Bookbinding
Bookbinding is a great skill, involving relatively inexpensive tools, that allows you to create your own journals, sketch pads, or limited edition publications from scratch. The Red Roots bookbinding workshop provides an introduction to this fine art, and covers basic coptic and Japanese binding methods. At most bookbinding workshops, we provide all the tools and materials you will need for a practice run, and you get to take your finished piece home with you!
Buttonmaking
Have you ever wanted to design your own custom buttons for events, causes or just plain fun? The Red Roots buttonmaking workshop helps you design, print, cut and press your own buttons using a bunch of tools that we have on-site. We use the Red Roots computer lab to format and print button designs, and then cut and press the designs using a bunch of fun machinery! It's an easy skill to learn, and an ideal way to make a quick visual statement to passersby.
Knitting
Red Roots offers knitting workshops at both beginner and advanced levels. With sample yarn and needles available, and a crew of seasoned knitting instructors, you should have no problem experimenting and producing a wonderful piece to bring home with you.
Jewelry Making
Red Roots jewelry making workshops help you learn to work with crimp beads, create clasps and closures, and manipulate earring backs and posts. All materials are provided, and a variety of shells, seed beads, semi-precious stones and silver are usually available choose from.
