If Red Roots has been looking snazzy lately, it's because the crew has been doing fix-its: caulking leaks in the roof, installing our sign and makeshift gutter (minus a drain spout), building a new utility shelf and zine racks, setting up new computers in the space, and organizing / alphabetizing the lending library.
If you missed the earlier class, come to this one. We'll be learning how to make instant books, then writing, illustrating, and decorating them!
Ideal for ages 4 & up; under 4 welcome with an adult.
The final class in the Book Arts series will feature an intricate and beautiful binding technique called coptic. It will be helpful if you've attended the previous classes, but all skill levels are welcome if you're up for the challenge!
All necessary materials will be provided for use during class.
This class will feature using recyclable materials to make books. We'll use materials such as cardboard and old book covers to create something new and useful! You will learn a new binding technique during this class and will leave with the skills to make your own recycled journals, photo albums, illustrated storybooks, etc.
This class will build on what was covered in the previous class, but all skill levels are welcome!

This class is ideal for kids who want to learn some simple ways to make books for their favorite stories and drawings! All ages welcome; under 4 with an adult.
This class is perfect for someone who has never silk screened and isn't sure if they want to invest the money in all the materials. The class will cover the basics of the process and help people determine if they would like to invest more time and energy into silk screening.
You will be able to practice printing a few different designs and walk away from the class with your own sil screened shirt. And the class is kid friendly!
If you liked Bookbinding Basics, or if you already have a working knowledge of bookbinding, come to this advanced class. This class will build on the skills you learned in the Basics and will explore a few new techniques such as coptic binding, hardcover binding, and binding using recycled books.
You'll take home a few new practice pieces and the skills to continue making books on your own.
All materials will be provided for use during the class.
This introductory workshop will teach you a variety of jewelry making skills, including how to work with crimp beads, creating clasps and closures, and manipulating earring backs and posts. All materials will be provided, and a variety of shells, seed beads, semi-precious stones and silver will be available to choose from. And you'll get to walk away with your own necklace and earring set!
Do you need to use the internet to do research for a school paper, look up information on your hobby, or send emails to your friends? Come to this class to learn the basics of navigating and finding useful stuff online.
This class will teach you how to manipulate text and images on websites using basic HTML. If you want to start a blog, post online content for your work, or just get introduced to web design, this class is for you!
